Vinicunca is considered by National Geographic Magazine as one of the places you must visit before you die.
Also known as the Mountain of Seven Colors or Rainbow Mountain, it is a natural wonder on the way to Ausangate.
During this full-day Trekking Rainbow Mountain Cusco, you’ll visit this beautiful mountain and see its characteristic colors from the top, as well as a breathtaking view of the Ausangate peak.
05:00 am. On this Trekking Rainbow Mountain Cusco, you will be picked up from your hotel or a meeting point for the entire group and begin a journey of approximately 2 hours to the city of Pitumarca.
Pitumarca is a picturesque town south of Cusco. Here we will stop to purchase some items such as rain ponchos, mineral water or energy drinks, snacks, etc.
After this brief stop, we will continue our journey through magical landscapes that blend seamlessly with mysterious snow-capped mountains, multicolored crops, Andean camelids, and deep valleys.
We will see very picturesque towns such as Ocefina and Chilca. This will be the place where we will disembark from our transport and have some time to stretch our legs and rest from the journey.
We’ll pass through the town of Machuraccay and then to the foot of Vinicunca, where the villagers have set up a checkpoint and charge a fee of 10 soles to enter this mystical place.
We’ll then begin the trek along a route where the landscape gradually changes, between mountains of intense colors and small streams of icy water that nourish and give life to the valley.
We’ll reach an altitude of 5,033 meters.
At the top of the mysterious Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca), we’ll have plenty of time to take photos.
The descent is much more peaceful and easy. We will arrive at the town of Chilca, where a hearty lunch prepared by our Andean chef will be waiting for you as a reward.
Then we will return to the buses for the return to Cusco, arriving on average around 6 or 7 p.m.
Finally, you will be transferred to your respective accommodations.
Note: During the ascent, we will have a backup horse in case of any emergency due to the change in altitude.
